Welcome to the New Student Orientation program at Westfield State University!

Whether you’re commuting, living on campus, coming with college credits, or exploring your major, our program is designed to help you settle into your new home. Orientation offers a great chance to meet fellow students, administrators, faculty, and staff, ensuring you make meaningful connections.

An enthusiastic Orientation Leader will guide you through sessions on important campus resources and help you feel at home in our vibrant community.

What Should I Expect?

As an incoming first-year or transfer student, you’ll receive a lot of information and have next steps to take. Our team is here to help you navigate it all! Be sure to attend our Orientation Program, which is designed to set you up for success as an Owl.

Key Details:

Move-In for All Students:

  • Date: Sunday, January 19th
  • Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Lunch with Your Group Leader:

  • All students, both commuter and residential, should meet their group leader at the Dining Commons for lunch at 12:00 p.m.

Orientation Sessions:

  • Start Time: 1 p.m.
  • Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including campus resources and important staff introductions.

Week of Events:

  • There will be events for students all week, starting with a special event on Sunday night for new students.

Registration Opens:

  • December 1st

All students are required to participate in New Student Orientation. Session attendance is tracked for all students.
