In response to the ever-evolving landscape of emergency medical services, and the need for paramedics in our area, our program is designed to meet the increasing demand for highly skilled paramedics. They will be capable of delivering critical care in the most challenging situations. Our mission is to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also compassionate, resilient, and ready to serve their communities with distinction.
At Westfield State University, we recognize the critical role that paramedics play in the healthcare system. Our new Paramedic Program is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between EMT and Paramedic levels, ensuring a seamless transition for those aspiring to advance their careers. The Paramedic Program aims to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge in emergency medical services. We emphasize both theoretical and practical training, preparing students to excel in various emergency scenarios. Our strong support network, which includes backing from the university administration, local fire departments, and healthcare professionals, ensures that students receive unparalleled support and resources.
Students will gain real-world experience through our partnerships with local emergency services, providing invaluable practical training. Additionally, we prioritize the mental well-being of our students and future paramedics by focusing on mental health and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Our goal is to address the vital need for mental health care in the demanding field of paramedicine, helping to eliminate the negative stigma and taboo associated with seeking help in the prehospital culture.
Our program will offer an extensive curriculum covering all essential aspects of paramedic training. It includes National and Massachusetts Pre-hospital protocols, advanced medical procedures, interpreting electrocardiograms, pharmacology, and trauma care. Our curriculum is designed to meet both the needs of our community and National standards, ensuring that our students are well-prepared to take and pass the National Registry written exam.

Our program emphasizes emergency response and community health, preparing students for various scenarios. Emphasis on community health, Mobile Integrated Health (MIH), and routine standard calls that our community encounters every day.
Work alongside students and faculty from the Athletic Training, Health Sciences, and EMT programs.
The Paramedic Program will offer an option for earning college credits, enabling you to complete a degree or advance even further into higher-level healthcare-related fields.
