Program Overview
At Westfield State University, we recognize the critical role that paramedics play in the healthcare system. The Paramedic Program is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between EMT and Paramedic levels, ensuring a seamless transition for those aspiring to advance their careers. With a comprehensive curriculum, modern training facilities, and experienced faculty, our program stands out as a premier choice for paramedic education.
Building on the strong foundation of our well-regarded EMT program, the Paramedic program aims to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge in emergency medical services. We emphasize both theoretical and practical training, preparing students to excel in various emergency scenarios. Students will gain real-world experience through our partnerships with local emergency services, providing invaluable practical training. Additionally, we prioritize the mental well-being of our students and future paramedics by focusing on mental health and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Our goal is to address the vital need for mental health care in the demanding field of paramedicine, helping to eliminate the negative stigma and taboo associated with seeking help in the prehospital culture. Our mission is to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also compassionate, resilient, and ready to serve their communities with distinction.
Schedule
The program includes ten months of classroom instruction followed by clinical, field, and capstone internships, and can be completed within 12–18 months with an accelerated option. To meet the diverse needs of working students, the program offers hybrid live lectures enabling remote participation with the in-person classes. Hands on skills labs are held in-person
More information regarding the schedule will be available soon.
