Alexander Moore

Biography

Dr. Alexander Moore teaches a wide range of courses in mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. He serves as the Coordinator of Elementary Mathematics Education at Westfield State, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Theoretical & Marginal Mathematics Education, and the Director of The Critical Philosophical and Psychoanalytic Institute for Mathematics Education—an international research collaborative. He is a scholar of the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. His research focuses on sexuality, gender, ideological criticism, and other philosophical and theoretical development in the field of mathematics education—such as the relationship between mathematics, technology, society, and education. His theoretical contributions include the concepts of masculine-quilted-speech, feminine-quilted-speech, and psychoanalytic ethics of mathematics education.
