Everyone I would like to introduce you to Mr. Prickles!

Mr. Prickles is our very own class pet. He is a very friendly little guy, and is going to become a cute and fun part of our classroom community! Like his name suggests Mr. Prickles can be a little prickly from time to time, but this only happens where he gets scared, upset, or angry. Also long as we don't upset our classroom friend he will be much softer and happier in our classroom.

Parents:

Mr. Prickles is in fact a hedgehog, and I can understand the potential concern about hedgehogs having "spikes" on their bodies. I want to assure you that I have had Mr. Prickles for several years now, and he is very well tempered and rarely feels the need to use his spines. In any case I do require students to where gloves if they are going to handle Mr. Prickles, just in case he does feel the need to become prickly. I also will be sending home a permission slip that will allow students to handle Mr. Prickles. Also I want to stress that hedgehogs are hypoallergenic pets, and I have yet to have a student with a hedgehog allergy. With that in mind anything is possible, and if your student does have an allergy to hedgehogs please inform me! The classroom needs to be safe for students above all else! Thanks - Mr. K
