Due to the lack of space, some passengers slept in the shallop (a large ship's boat, stored on the gun deck). Others had the ships' carpenter build them a cabin or bunk. Here, they could place their hammocks to sleep on, cooking pots, clothing and other everyday items. Personal items were stored in the hold where there was privacy. | |||||
