Our class pet is a Guinea Pig named Oreo. Our little buddy got that name from our class as a whole due to his black and white coloring. Having a class pet does many positive things for our classroom and my students. First is the caring for the Guinea Pig, one of my class jobs is to feed Oreo everyday and refresh his water along with changing his cage at the end of the week. These responsibilities teach and show the students that we need to lookout for others and care for others. Also caring for the Guinea Pig will then cause a bond to form between the student and the animal, in which the child wants to care for and see the Guinea Pig. If they care for Oreo they will always remember to keep up with its maintenance and maybe even inspire the kids to come to school if they have a bad day. Oreo is a class favorite and has become a part of our classroom family. |
