| Our class website is mainly in order for the parents of our third grade students to get a better look into what we are working on in the classroom, as well as have a better understanding as to how they can be assisting their child from home in whatever way they can. Having a classroom website also allows our students to be able to go over classroom material, while they are in the comfort of their own home. Utilizing technology inside and outside of the classroom allows students to use tools like websites, apps, learning games, e-books, and virtual tutoring, which help allow the student(s) to learn at their own pace. Digital materials can support classroom learning topics, and even introduce different teaching methods for each student’s unique learning needs. A recent study even found that K-12 and college students prefer to have technology integrated somewhere into their curriculum. Computers, tablets, smartphones, and the internet are the same tools that they use at home, so the students are already comfortable using these tools to connect with other students, their instructors, and their institution. Utilizing the technology that students are already accustomed to will make your students more likely to be excited about the lesson, thus resulting in a better grade, and eventually a better overall attitude towards the subject. Unlike in previous decades, modern teachers are beginning to recognize the critical importance technology plays in teaching tomorrow’s leaders. |
