Founded in 1838 by famed social reformer Horace Mann, Westfield State University was the first university to admit students without bias, a social feat at the time. It is a comprehensive, four-year public university that is headquartered in Westfield, Massachusetts. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The teacher licensure programs have also been accredited, receiving the honor from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Westfield State has 31 majors, 34 minors, and 43 concentrations, all at the undergraduate level. Master’s degrees are also available. The school’s most popular majors are Criminal Justice, Education, and Psychology.
The university grants degrees online as well. Through their online portal, Westfield State has a variety of online Bachelor degrees available, including an online liberal arts degree. If a student meets the requirement of having completed courses at Massachusetts Community College and has completed the transfer compact, then they are eligible to finish their degree online.
