Westfield State University received a 2019 Educational Fundraising Award in June from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for overall improvement, in recognition of significant program growth over a three-year period.

Founded in 1669, the city of Westfield turned 350 this year, holding events that ranged from a community pancake breakfast to a parade.

Graydon transferred to Westfield State in the fall of 2016 as a criminal justice major and art minor. Last summer, she took her aspirations to Washington, D.C., where she interned in a highly competitive program with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The start of that opportunity was engineered on campus.

Holly invited her grandfather to a presentation during her senior year. Davis learned about research and land surveys the students were doing along roadways in Westfield. He walked away with the idea to donate the land he and Christina owned to Westfield State, in her memory.

Manuel Gonzalez ’18 funded his entire college education out of pocket, with the help of financial aid.

Thanks to productive collaboration between the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, a formalized roadmap to better support the likelihood that students engage meaningfully during their time here and graduate on time has been implemented.

While the campus may have looked quiet in the summer, it is anything but. Collectively, we were hard at work, laying the foundation for another incredible year for Westfield State students.
