Common Goods Pantry
The Office of Alumni Relations was pleased to partner with Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group students this spring to help raise funds for the Common Goods Pantry. In 48 hours more than $3,000 was raised to restock the shelves of the pantry. Common Goods is a food pantry and resource center serving Westfield State students, faculty and staff who may be experiencing food insecurity and are struggling to make ends meet. Thank you to our terrific students. For more info,

Evening of Discovery Showcases Westfield State’s Strength in STEM
The Westfield State Foundation Inc. hosted a virtual Evening of Discovery fundraiser May 7 to showcase the work of students, faculty and alumni associated with the University’s College of Mathematics and Sciences (CMS). The Division of Institutional Advancement worked with Dean for CMS Jennifer Hanselman, Ph.D., to highlight leading student scholars, unique student-faculty research, alumni leaders in STEM, and a special tribute to retiring Chemistry Professor Patrick Romano. Dr. Romano provided a heartfelt response to the student-led tribute as part of the program.
Individuals were encouraged to support students by buying golf balls, which were dropped via a helicopter on the green of a hole at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield prior to the event. Those who purchased golf balls that landed closest to the pin won cash prizes.
Give A Hoot 2021
The 2021 Give A Hoot Day was the University’s most successful ever. Thank you for the generous support during this 24-hour day of giving. Nearly $70,000 was raised, easily eclipsing last year’s total. With more than 320 donors, multiple challenges and some healthy competition, students will benefit from this compassionate altruism. A total of $265,000 has been raised in the seven-year history of this event.
Now that you’ve left the nest, please keep us posted on what you’re up to!
