To honor the legacy of Carlton Pickron, Ed.D., President Ramon Torrecilha, Ph.D, announced at the November 2018 anniversary gala a newly established Carlton Pickron Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Diverse Faculty.
The goal of the program is to increase diversity of teaching faculty at Westfield State, and Dr. Torrecilha noted the fellowship will be carried out by diverse candidates who will hold the position of assistant professor on a three-year, full-time temporary contract.
The fellow will have a reduced teaching load to make room for mentoring in the Urban Education program and to develop the fellow’s research agenda. The successful candidate is expected to integrate fully in the Westfield State University campus, participating in activities and committee work.
“Dr. Pickron’s signature leadership will leave both the University’s academic and social profiles changed,” said Dr. Torrecilha. “His impact is immeasurable and his mark on Westfield State University will remain.”
