Enrique Morales-Diaz, Ph.D., interim dean of faculty, will receive the Antonia Pantoja Award for Distinguished Achievement in education and research from the Latino Scholarship Fund of Western Massachusetts at a virtual ceremony on June 22.
The Latino Scholarship Fund will recognize his tireless efforts to support Latinx and other students at Westfield State and throughout the Pioneer Valley.
“To say that I was surprised to learn about this award is an understatement,” said Morales-Diaz. “I never do anything seeking recognition. I do what I do because I am passionate about it and because it is the right thing to do. Dr. Pantoja is an example of what someone like me can strive toward.”
During the June 22 event, will award 13 college-bound Latinx high school graduates from Hampden and Hampshire counties with scholarships of $1,500 each.
