Prof. Glen Brewster named president of Sigma Tau Delta

English Professor Glen Brewster, Ph.D. has been appointed president of the Sigma Tau Delta international English honor society. He will serve as president of the organization until 2020.

A long-time chapter sponsor for Sigma Tau Delta, Dr. Brewster most recently served as the Eastern Regent for the organization, prior to his appointment as president.

Dr. Brewster has been a part of the Westfield State University English department for many years, including seven years as department chair (2003–10). The director of the University’s Honors Program since 2011, Brewster is also an advisor to several student organizations, including the Westfield Voice newspaper, Persona literary journal, and the Academic Pursuits Club.

He holds a B.A. in English and philosophy  and an M.A. in English, both from the University of Tennessee, and a Ph.D. in English from Duke University.

Sigma Tau Delta strives to recognize excellence in all areas of English language and literature studies, encourage further achievement in these areas, provide cultural stimulation on college campuses, and foster all aspects of the disciplines of English, including literature, language, and writing.
