Worcester-based non-profit organization Teen Challenge recently became the beneficiary of a significant collection of furniture and supplies from Westfield State that were diverted from the waste stream.
The University partnered with the Massachusetts State College Building Authority and The Furniture Trust to donate the office and residence hall furniture and supplies, which had a fair market value of $66,165 and weighed over 26,000 pounds, according to Maribeth Geraghty, finance manager of The Furniture Trust.
“By working with The Furniture Trust, you are supporting our overall
mission of making a positive community impact with used office
furnishings,” said Geraghty. “Since our inception, we have donated more than $20 million worth of furniture and supplies to local schools and nonprofits, diverting thousands of tons from the landfill.”
