Dr. Henry Lee shares expertise with CJ students, faculty and staff

Renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry C. Lee delivered a series of lectures and Q&A sessions at the University on Feb. 6. Dr. Lee’s visit was part of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services’ “Perspectives in Criminal Justice: Voices from the Field” lecture series. Dr. Lee’s testimony has figured prominently in high-profile criminal cases over the last several decades. His crime scene and evidence analysis has been highly revered and has helped to solve more than 8,000 cases.

Aside from his widely publicized testimony in the prominent criminal trials and investigations involving O.J. Simpson, Jon Benet Ramsey, Elizabeth Smart and others, Dr. Lee also served as Connecticut’s long-time chief criminalist and as the director of the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory.

Dr. Lee built his portfolio of cutting-edge forensics research at University of New Haven in Connecticut. There, he built the University’s Forensic Science program into one of the top programs in the nation. His legacy continued to be honored at UNH, where the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science has been constructed to serve as a home for advanced forensic research is and training for law enforcement professionals from around the globe.

Throughout his day-long visit to campus, Dr. Lee generously shared his expertise and sense of humor. His lectures were engaging and drew the interest of many students, faculty, staff, and special guests.
