Westfield State junior Samuel Masoud was honored on January 29 as the regional finalist for the Excellence in Allied and Technical Design at the virtual Region One Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, in which several of the University students participated.
Masoud presented the musical compositions that he wrote and recorded for the Theatre Arts Program’s production of Jose Rivera’s MARISOL. As the representative from Region One he will move forward to the National Virtual Festival, where Masoud will present his work to nationally renowned theatre artists.
According to Associate Professor James McNamara, during the virtual festival, Masoud will attend virtual workshops and may discuss career goals with these artists. All regional finalists will receive free registration to the 2023 University Residential Theatre Association’s Graduate Portfolio Review, attended by more than 60 graduate theatre programs from across the nation.
