Students help clean Westfield River

Taylor Griffin and Chase Gregory were among the Westfield State students who participated in the Westfield River cleanup.

Several Westfield State students were among a group of 20 volunteers on Sept. 25 who helped the Westfield River Watershed Association (WRWA) clean the Westfield River.

The WRWA and the Connecticut Conservancy ”Sea to Source“ cleanup program collaborated along the Westfield River, cleaning the river and its banks, where less trash was found in comparison to the first fall cleanup of the river in previous years.

Established in 1953, the WRWA is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve and protect the watershed’s natural resources. If interested in getting involved, the next cleanup will be held Saturday, Oct. 9. Visit the WRWA on Facebook or follow @WestfieldRiverWatershedAssoc on Instagram for more information.
