Student volunteers help clear trails in campus research area

Thanks to a dedicated group of environmental science student volunteers, the trails in the Environmental Science and Ecological Research area have been cleared for students and faculty to use.

On Friday, Aug. 27 after a successful Move-in Day, students Jenna Boivin, Zach Dickenson, Kat Foss, Jay Gusmano, Elliot Rinaldi, and Jacob Towsley joined Environmental Science Professors Tim Parshall, Ph.D., and Michael Vorwerk, Ph.D. The group cleared the overgrowth of the area, which is widely used for courses, labs, independent research projects, as well as First Year and Senior Capstone Research Seminars.

“It’s uncommonly cool because it has such a diversity of micro-ecosystems subjected to a wide variety of human and natural factors,” said Vorwerk.
