TriBeta National Biological Honor Society inducts 30 students

The Westfield State chapter of the Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) Biological Honor Society inducted 30 students in a virtual ceremony honoring both spring 2020 and spring 2021 inductees on May 12. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s spring ceremony was canceled.

The University’s chapter of TriBeta is one of more than 600 chapters established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 individuals have been accepted into lifetime membership into this society, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.

Officiating the ceremony was faculty advisor Jason Ramsay, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology. Student executive board members are President Matthew Giebel ’21, Vice President Brandon Sullivan ’21, Historian Grace Brunner ’22, Baidan Hussein ’21 and Idil Hussein ’21.

The 2020 inductees were: Brunner, Mileny Campos ’20, Shealynn Conway ’22, Matthew Dibbern ’22, Joselyn Donahue ’22, Rebecca Hoynoski ’20, Melinda Hurteau ’20, Baidan and Idil Hussein, Natasha Nevue ’21, Melissa Otero ’20, Monica Rivera ’20, Suwayna Rowe ’20, Renee St. Jacques ’21, Mohammad Sultan ’20, Courtney Swain ’21, D. Mitchell Vivilecchia ’20, and Munir Zaitoun ’20.

The 2021 inductees were: Gabrielle Biseinere ’21, Christina Ciampa ’23, Samantha Falcone ’22, Ricardo Fonseca ’22, Jean Ganek ’23, Emily Geddes ’23, Abdirahman Hussein ’21, Abbas Mire ’21, Paige Pressey ’22, Brianna Toomey ’24, and Matthew Wandishion ’22.
