Emergency fund created to help students in need

The Westfield State Foundation has created a Student Emergency Fund called Owls Helping Owls to support the essential needs of its students who may not have parents or champions to assist them in this time of turmoil.

Since its recent establishment, more than $7,000 has been raised to support these students. “I am very encouraged by the response,” said Erica Broman, Westfield State vice president for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the Westfield State Foundation. “Many of the students remaining on campus during this time are foster students or those aging out of the system. They truly have neither alternatives nor champions to guide them. Westfield State is their family.”

If you know of a student who is experiencing barriers to academic success this semester due to the unique circumstances we are experiencing, please reach out to either Jen Propp or Marjorie Rodriguez who lead a group helping to allocate these funds.
