Department of Business hosts inaugural “Business Week,” Nov. 4-8

Rick Sullivan, president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts, was one of several guest speakers to visit during the University’s celebration of Business Week, Nov. 4-8.

Sullivan addressed how government assists businesses with expansion, relocation, and networking. As a member of former Mass. Governor Deval Patrick’s cabinet, Secretary Sullivan helped to bring clean energy technology to market, curbed greenhouse gas emissions and cut energy costs.

Other Business Week guest speakers and events included MGM Grand Springfield’s Chief Operating Officer Michael Mathis and Cooley Dickinson Health Care’s Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Julia Sorensen, a panel discussion on the perils of vaping, a product/gift item pitch contest, a networking dinner, and a business trivia contest.
