The annual Albert and Amelia Ferst Interfaith Center Breakfast was held April 10, celebrating the Westfield State Foundation’s leadership and support.
Since its dedication in 1982, the Center has offered religious services, pastoral counseling, and a variety of interfaith activities, administered by a dedicated staff of faith leaders. Fr. Warren Savage leads a team of Interfaith Chaplains at the Center, where students and others from the campus community pursue worship, spiritual exploration, fellowship, and service.
Rabbi Jacob Fine, the founder and director of Abundance Farm, which practices and promotes food justice and addresses local food insecurity, served as guest speaker; while the organizers of the Westfield State University Common Goods Food Pantry were recognized.
Hibo Hussein, a senior biology major from West Springfield, received the Interfaith Student Service Award for her contributions as president of the Muslim Student Organization and as a founding member of the “Art of Listening” program, which has brought interfaith dialogue to campus each semester.
