Softball players “Pitch In” to help those in need

Members of the Westfield State softball team collected a total of 6,632 pounds of donations in its second year of “Pitch In,” its community service project. Clothing, kitchen and household items, books and toys were gathered by team members and transported via a box truck and personal vehicles to Savers to assist those affected by hurricanes earlier this fall.

The total marked a significant increase over last year’s effort, when the team collected and donated over 4,000 pounds of items.
