On April 23, President Ramon Torrecilha welcomed faculty and staff emeriti back to campus for a luncheon hosted by Institutional Advancement. The University’s emeriti faculty and staff have met each semester during the past two years to stay abreast of campus activities and many have volunteered to assist with reading scholarships and helping at Advancement events.
After lunch, Dr. Bob Rausch, chair of the Movement Science Department, introduced Dr. Paul Higgins, assistant professor of movement science, sport and leisure studies, who addressed the group. Dr. Higgins explained how the curriculum in movement science builds on information from previous semesters. Using the example of a patient with a diagnosis of an arthritic knee, he turned the presentation over to several students. The students discussed anatomy, which students take as freshmen, the evaluation of lower extremity injuries, taken by sophomores, as well as therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercises, which most students take as juniors or seniors.
