Now you must proceed to the site of the famous first battle of the American Revolution. The battle took place on June 17, 1775. During this battle, the colonial forces held their own against the British Army. At this battle site it is believed that Col. William Prescott said the famous quote: "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes." This structure was built between 1827 and 1843 to remember this important battle in our history as a nation.
