Unit Topic: Mathematics
Grade: 2nd
Grade
Lesson Theme: Addition
Lesson Objectives: Students will
demonstrate increased knowledge of addition with two activities that require
handouts. They will display the online knowledge by answering 7 out of 10
correct answers on the handout from the website. The student will show that
they have grasped the concept by completing They will then be able to see what
they got wrong and have a second chance to correct their response.
Instructional Technique: In class activity will be done in pairs or groups of
3. Online activity will be completed individually.

Flash Cards
• Handouts
Theoretical Perspective:
It is important for
the students to learn addition mathematics to progress through the stages of
school. Math concepts of addition set a mathematical foundation to continue on
with more compex in later grades.
Procedure: The students will start in the
classroom with materials present and ready to use. When moved to computer lab
the website will already be up on each computer to eliminate fooling around and
time wasted. There are 5 levels and the teacher will set all of the games to
level 5.
1. Teacher chooses groups
2. Students will receive
their addition flash cards
3. Students will start activity and take
turns
4. After students complete working on the flash cards the class
will move to the computer room
5. Students will receive their
handouts
6. Teacher will explain how to use the website as well as the
handout together
7. Students will start the activity and record their
answers
8. After the students complete the website activity they will
turn to their handout and attempt to recorrect the answers they got
wrong
9. Students will hand in worksheets
10. Teachers will later
review and decide wether students met the set knowledge standards
There might
be a few students in the classroom that have specific needs whether they be
physically or metally. There will be a handicap seat where using the computer
is accessable. For students who have trouble reading and/or processing there
are 5 levels that can be chosen for this activity and those students that are
documented they will be able to sit at a computer where the level is set to a
lower level.
Evaluation:
A. How /when will you determine if you have
met your objectives?
After both activities are completed and the teacher is
able to review the handouts that is where they will be able to asses which
students met the requirments set to show if they were able to display the
knowledge on the specific topic. The handout that was created to go along with
this activity has many details to help the teacher see what the student chose
for an answer and to see what the student tried again to put the correct
answer.
B. Concerns or questions you have about teaching this
lesson?
Concerns about this lesson are that there are a few parts to the
activity and there might be a lot of questions from more than one student. It
will be hard to get to each computer in a timely fashion which might result in
some students not being able to complete it in the time alotted. How is there a
way to eliminate many questions so that the activity will go smoother and allow
the teacher more time to walk around the room and observe the students while
they are working.Home
