George Washington
As
a young man George's older brother Lawrence died and he inherited Mount
Vernon from him. Next for George was his service in the British Army.
At this time the British and French were both fighting for control in America.
As
a young officer he lead an army of 150 men against the French and
defeated them. He would be hailed as a hero but later blmaed for
defeats that the British suffered.
Angry
over his lack of respect he quite the army and return to farm in
Virginia. He then married Martha Curtis and started to become a leader
in Fairfax County.
George
became one of the first men to openly support resistance against
England for their taxation and strict regulations against the colonies (Stamp Act, Navigation Act, Tea Act).
