electrons in the shell increase as you move through the transition
metals from left to right. The transition metals are located in the
center of the periodic table; columns 3 to 12. When you reach the
transition metals, this is the point you can place more than 8
electrons in a shell. They usually have 18 or 32 for the maximum number
of electrons.
