Unit Topic: Geography

Grade: 6

Lesson Topic: Christmas Cultures

Lesson Objectives: Students will develop and understand the different Christmas customs throughout the world. Students will utilize computers and technology as a part of their manipulative for all learning styles. They will be able to develope these objectives throughout this one day lesson.

Instructional Technique: Students navigate themselves through the “Christmas Around the World” website and encounter multicultural questions and information.

Instructional Materials: internet website, worksheet, crayons, colored pencils, etc.

Theoretical Perspective: The different cultures of the world are an important part of the Geography curriculum because it gives the students a better understanding of the world and their beliefs. By using the computers and technology, students will better their creative thinking skills.

Procedure:

• Hand out the worksheet to students that explains how to get to the website to begin their adventure with Frosty.
• Navigate through website until Frosty reaches the United States home page and make dots on the map where Frosty visited as you go along.
• Get crayons, colored pencils, etc.
• Color the map and hand in to the teacher to hang up around the classroom.

Different Learners: Have aid work with the students one on one to help with the questions and computer.

Evaluation:

We will know if the objectives have been completed by seeing how long the students take to complete the journey with Frosty and by how many questions they ask to other students and/or the teacher.
