Monnie laid her egg on a leaf, which is the most common place for a butterfly to lay its eggs. A butterfly's eggs are sticky which allows them to stick directly to the leaf. Butterflies may only lay one egg at a time, like Monnie, or they may lay hundreds of eggs.
