Theoretical Perspective: The life cycle of a flower and different parts of a flower is an important concept for students to understand because they need to understand how their food and their surroundings grow. As students get older and want to start growing plants on their own this is an important skill they can use to identify if their plants are growing healthy. Plants are closely related to human life. Plants need food, air, and water to grow just like humans. Students understanding that plants are the major component that gives humans the air we need to survive is a huge concept for them. This increases the knowledge of the students and makes them form connections between plants and humans.

Procedure:

  1. Introductory Activity: The teacher will conduct a class discussion about the student's prior knowledge and understanding of flowers. The teacher will also go over the growth process of the flower to engage the interest of the students.

  2. Step By Step:

    1. After talking as a class about the student's prior knowledge of flowers.

    2. The teacher will read The Tiny Seed aloud to the class and answer any questions the students might have.

    3. Based off the students questions and the story the teacher will teach the lecture.

    4. The students will grow and observe their plants in order to see a flowers life cycle in person.

    5. The students will then take the quiz independently online and go through seven questions about flowers.

  3. Closure: After completing the questions on the website the teacher will have a class discussion to conclude the lesson. The teacher will go over the answers to the quiz and explain to the class why the answers are correct. The teacher will also go over the questions that the students struggled with and give them a better understanding of the question.

  4. Adaptations for different learners: The teacher can work with any student who needs individual help or is struggling with the quiz or concept. The quiz can also be read aloud to the students who need words or sentences read to them. There will be an adult available to read to those students.

  5. Homework: No Homework
