Lesson
Objectives: The students will be able to practice with
their even and odd numbers. They will be able to figure out
which number comes next or before in the list of numbers
provided. The students will also have to figure out whether if
the number provided is even or odd. The students will have to
give an explanation of why they chose that answer and if they
answered incorrectly, they must explain why and what they
could have done differently. At the end the students will
understand the difference between. even or odd numbers
Instructional
Technique: Our instructional technique is first
having them answer questions from online onto a blank piece of
paper and solving them before checking the correct answer on
the website. If any confusion we will discuss the questions as
a class.
Instructional
Materials: Students base work on paper off of website.
https://in.ixl.com/math/
Theoretical
Perspective: Even and odd numbers is an important concept
in math and in everyday life that everyone will come across.
It is important for students to know the difference between
the two especially early on as they continue their math
career.
Procedure:
(As a teacher, what will you and the students
do.)
A. Introductory
Activity (if applicable):
-
Students will go over to computers and open up the link that is
already bookmarked.
B. Step-by-step:
Students
will go over to computers and open up the link that is already
bookmarked
Students
will begin by writing the problem down that is given.
Students
will solve the problem on the paper
Students
must explain why and how they came to their final answer.
Students
will now check if they answered correctly by checking on the
website.
If answered
incorrectly, students must write down the correct answer
and what they did wrong and what they could have done
differently.
C. Closure: As a class
we will discuss some of the problems students solved on the
website and go over them in depth.
D. Adaptations for
different learners Students who struggle with identifying
numbers, you can pair them up with another student in the class
to help them out.
E. Homework: Similar
problems on a worksheet to the ones they did in class.
Evaluation:
A. How/ when will you
determine if you have met your objectives?
If the
students are aware of the mistake they have made on the
problem and why. If they understand how to solve it now, we
know that we have met our objective.
The student
must explain why they chose that answer at first and then
after explain what they should have done differently to come
to the correct answer.
B. Concerns
or questions you have about teaching this lesson? Nope, we
believe it will be fairly simple for third graders do identify
even and odd numbers. But if they struggle with it we will
pair them up with another student or discuss the problems in
class to go over.
