Theoretical Perspective:

Addition is important for the students to know because it is the base for all other mathematical concepts.

  Procedure: Part A (Step-by-step)

Ask students what addition is and what they know about it

§  Give examples of addition

§  Answer any additional questions that students may have

  Introduce the website http://www.fun4thebrain.com/addition/coneFlurryAdd.swf

§  Show demonstration of how to use the website

Tell students to click on the already bookmarked website on their individual computers

Hand out the instructional worksheets that the students will follow throughout using the website

Have students work independently on the website

§  Go around checking that students are understanding the website and addition problems

When a student has successfully completed 7 out of 10 problems give them the evaluating worksheet

§  If some students struggle to meet the requirement of 7 correct problems, help must be provided to that student to ensure that they can do it on their own

When evaluating worksheets have been completed, they are collected

  Procedure: Part B (Adaptations)

If a student has an exceptional learning need and cannot complete the 7 out of 10 problems on the website within the class period, 5 out of 10 will be accepted

If a student has an exceptional learning need and cannot complete the 6 out of 8 problems on the evaluating worksheet within the class period, 4 out of 8 will be accepted

  Evaluation:

The students will correctly complete 7 out of 10 given problems on the website, http://www.fun4thebrain.com/addition/coneFlurryAdd.swf.

§  Successful completion of this objective will be shown through the step by step instructional worksheet where the students fill in the work that was done on the website

The students will correctly complete 6 out of the 8 problems on the corresponding worksheet.

§  Successful completion of this objective will be shown through the evaluating work sheet that the students complete during class

  Concerns or Questions:

Will all of the students be able to successfully complete both worksheets in the class time?
