• Theoretical Perspective: We believe that this information is important for our students to learn because money is something that is used in everyday life! In future jobs, such as working at a grocery store or restaurant, workers will need to give change out and take money from customers, so knowing how to count it is necessary. It can also help with dealing with future math skills, such as percentages and dividing.

• Procedure:

        A. Introductory Activity- Worksheet with coin names and values to be used as a review from yesterday’s lesson; fill in the blank sheet.

        B. Step-by-step-

• To begin the lesson, we ask students to review the lessons done in the previous days and to recall what they know about money. The students will converse with a partner to complete the review worksheet and correctly identify the type of coin and its value.
• We will then discuss the answers as a class before moving on to the online portion.
• As a class, we will demonstrate how to follow the guidelines at the top of the internet activity guide to get to the website. We will then do an example of a problem to demonstrate how the website works.(Money Master Worksheet)
• Students will begin to manipulate the coins by dragging each into website box to create the value given.
• If the value the student presents is accurate, the student will record on their activity guide, and give an alternative way of create the money value. If the student is incorrect, the student must correct their answer on the activity guide.
• Once the student completes the activity guide for online learning, the student will turn in the worksheet and pick up the “Exit Ticket”
• To complete the exit ticket, the students will complete the multiple choice by picking the correct answer that they think is accurate. It contains five multiple choice questions.

        C. Closure-  The students will complete a five question multiple choice assessment-“Exit Ticket”

        D. Adaptations for different learners

                If the student has trouble with math or counting we will provide coins and tangible items that the student can physically manipulate in front of them. This will help them better determine the value they are trying to create. If the students have questions, the teacher will be available for assistance.

        E. Homework- None.

        A. How/ when will you determine if you have met your objectives?

• The students will be able to accurately add the value of US coins. In order to determine if students have successfully completed this objective, they will be able to complete each of the worksheets provided.

        B. Concerns or questions you have about teaching this lesson?

• Need to monitor computer use of all students so they do not get distracted
• Students may have a hard time with technology
