This is an example of a lesson plan on upper and lowercase
letters that uses technology!
Unit topic or theme: Upper and lowercase letters
Grade: Preschool
Lesson Topic: Tracing and writing upper and lowercase
letters.
Lesson Objectives: The students will be able to
understand the difference between upper and lowercase letters.
Students will be able to trace letters with their finger,
trace the letters with their pencil, and write the letters
themselves.
Instructional Technique: Discussion, demonstration and
independent work.
Instructional Materials: Worksheets, pencils and online
game on the iPad.
Theoretical Perspective: Students should know and
understand this material because the more comfortable they are
with writing on their own, the easier it will be for them to
start writing whole words.
Procedure:
a.) Introductory Activity: Small group discussion about upper
and lowercase letters to see what the students already know.
b.) Step by Step: With a group of 4-5 students, hand out
worksheets with upper and lower case letters in big print.
Focus on 3-4 letters a day.
Show them how to trace the letters with their pointer finger.
Show them how to trace the letters with their pencil and have
them try and write the letters themselves on the lines
provided.
Have the students start working and walk around to give
assistance when needed. Hand out stickers to have the students
decorate the letters.
Hand out iPads that have the online game ready to start.
The students will be shown how to play the game by dragging
the correct upper and lowercase letters together.
