 Unit Topic/Theme: Essay

Grade: 3rd

Lesson theme: Reading

Lesson objectives: The students will be able to go to storyline online and pick a book of their liking. The y will then write an essay about this book.

Instructional techniques: Interactive website, groups of 4 they give five key points about the book. Instructional materials: Interactive website (http://www.storylineonline.net/), and online book.

Theoretical perspective: Students will be able to pick a book of their choosing and be able to discuss with peers. The purpose in reading and writing about a source.

Procedures:

Introductory activity: Wake up activity, interactive art Intertwined with an area of English. They will make a book cover for their essay.

Step - by – Step:

1. When the students arrive to the classroom we will explain that they will have to pick a book of their liking from the interactive site.

2. They will go to the computer and sign in.

3. We will hand a worksheet with the interactive website for each student.

4. After the students access the website, they will be able to look for a book and choose a book of their liking.

5. They will discuss the book and its five points later on in groups.

Closure: students will then create a book cover after discussing their five points.

Adaptations for different learners: Students will be provided either books or online books in different languages.

Homework: Students will write a brief essay on how this activity made them feel and if it was successful or not for their learning. The students will also write about what they like about the book and what it was about.

Evaluation: Students will grade each other based on the artwork and if they can tell each other’s inspirations. The teacher will then grade these reports.
