Unit Topic: Multiplication

Grade Level: 3rd grade

Lesson Topic: multiplication facts up to the twelve tables

Objective 1: The students will be able to work in pairs and be able to come up with answers to multiplication facts on the website www.adaptedmind.com/gradelist.php?grade=3.

Objective 2: The student on their own should also be able to complete a handout that includes ten multiplication problems.

Materials:

*Computers- 1 for every two students

*Pencil- one for each student (around 20)

*Multiplication handout - one for each student (around 20)

Multiplication is very important for students to learn at a young age. As students start to use money and share items they are beginning to use their multiplication skills as part of their everyday life. Also in some cases multiplication is faster than addition.

Procedure

*”Good morning students, today we are going to be working on our multiplication tables.”

*”Now break off into pairs, also grab a laptop you and your partner can share.”

*”I am now going to pass out instructions for what do next.”

*Adaptions for different learners (non-native speakers, struggling readers or math phobic learners and students with poor study skills) would be joining an already made group of two and having those students help walk through that student of what is happening on the online program. Also they can work with a partner for the worksheet.

*The homework is if you had gotten any problems wrong on the worksheet, re-write each problem that you got wrong on a separate piece of paper.

Evaluation

I will know if I met my objectives by seeing my students complete the online activity, multiplication handout, and if they need to handing in their homework the next day.

Objective 1: The students will be able to work in pairs and be able to come up with answers to multiplication facts on the website www.adaptedmind.com/gradelist.php?grade=3.

Objective 2: The student on their own should also be able to complete a handout that includes ten multiplication problems.

*To see if the students achieved objective one I will go around the room to see if the pairs complete level one.

*To see if the students achieved objective two I will correct the multiplication worksheet and see how they scored on it.

*Some concerns I have for teaching this lesson is that students could get of topic while working in pairs.
