Program Overview

Westfield State University’s live online Certified Supply Chain Professional Exam Preparation Program is designed to provide the knowledge for students to pass the CSCP exam and demonstrate their expertise in supply chain planning and operations. Participants will gain the skills to effectively manage global supply chain activities that involve suppliers, plants, distributors, and customers located around the world. CSCP serves the needs of both professionals and employers by keeping participants and their organization more competitive in today’s economy.

CSCP Learning System

The 2024 APICS CSCP Learning System consists of eight modules and web-based study tools that reflect the entire APICS CSCP Exam Content Manual (ECM) and provide a broad view of global end-to-end supply chain management. Each module will further empower you with an understanding of best practices, techniques and technologies necessary to maximize your organization’s efficiency and impact the bottom line. The Learning System is included in the cost of the program.

Module 1: Supply Chains, Demand Management, and Forecasting
  • Visualizing the supply chain entities, structures, and flows used to procure and deliver goods and services
  • Differentiating vertical versus horizontal integration and different levels of supply chain maturity
  • Using planning, communicating, influencing, and prioritizing steps in demand management, including market research and demand forecasting
  • Assessing portfolios and products using product portfolio management, the 4Ps of marketing, and product life-cycle management (PLM)
  • Using sales and operations planning (S&OP) to align supply with demand
Module 2: Global Supply Chain Networks
  • Designing the supply chain and configuring the supply chain network
  • Balancing efficiency with responsiveness while being resilient
  • Optimizing technology by matching requirements to various supply chain technologies and interfaces

  • Negotiating effective supply contracts/purchase orders and selecting proper payment terms
Module 4: Internal Operations and Inventory
  • Leveraging manufacturing planning and control including master planning, master scheduling, material requirements planning, distribution requirements planning, and various levels of capacity checks
  • Managing, planning, and controlling inventory to keep it at proper levels and replenish it efficiently
  • Understanding the effects of inventory on financial statements and inventory-related cost categories
  • Using quality and continuous improvement techniques and principles, including lean and just-in-time
Module 5: Forward and Reverse Logistics
  • Determining strategies for logistics, warehouse management, and transportation management
  • Complying with international standards and considerations for import/export, tax/tariff, and labor laws

  • Considering inputs and objectives of organizational strategy and supply chain management strategy

Prerequisites

Participants MUST be a member of the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) to take this course. The membership fee is not included in the cost of this program. Certification

This program is intended to prepare participants for the CSCP exam. An exam voucher is included in the cost of the program. Students will have 6 months from the end of the program to schedule and sit for the exam. If a student fails the first exam, they will qualify for a 2nd chance exam (retake). The 2nd chance exam, if issued, will be valid for 6 months.

Instructors

David Turbide

Dave has been a member of APICS/ASCM since 1985, previously serving as Chapter President for 10 years and currently serving as Executive Vice President. Dave is a certified manufacturing engineer (CMfgE) and is certified by APICS at the fellow level in Planning and Inventory Management (CFPIM), Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) and is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). He is a long-time chapter instructor for APICS classes and was a subject matter expert contributor for the education material supporting the CSCP program.

Author of six books including Computers in Manufacturing, MRP+, and Why Systems Fail, Dave has unique qualifications as an independent consultant and freelance writer serving both the developers and the users of software and systems for manufacturers. He has helped hundreds of users of manufacturing systems to select, implement, and get better results from their systems. In addition, he has performed analysis, written white papers and case studies, and advised software developers to help them improve their products and market positioning. He has authored several reports for major analyst firms and is especially attuned to the needs and challenges of the mid-sized manufacturer.

In addition to contributing hundreds of articles for various trade publications including more than 20 years writing the “Enterprise Insights” column for APICS magazine, Dave and a partner launched Midrange ERP magazine (later renamed Midrange Enterprise) in 1996, to act as an information and education resource for the small to medium manufacturing community. After returning to private practice, he leveraged the broad market knowledge acquired through his manufacturing consulting practice and magazine editor to work as a freelance writer.

Paul Moriarty

Paul possesses more than 25 years in the field of Supply Chain Management and Operations. He has several nationally recognized, professional certifications: CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management from Institute for Supply Management), CLTD (Certified Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution from ASCM), CPIM (Certified Planning and Inventory Manager from ASCM), and CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional from ASCM). 

Paul is a certified instructor for CLTD, CPIM, CSCP, as well as CPSM.

Paul developed and taught project management, operations and supply management courses for local companies and colleges.

Paul is founder and president of PFM & Associates, LLC, a small consultancy specializing in aiding companies to streamline operations, logistics, and inventory.

In addition, Paul is the president of the Northern New England chapter of ASCM.
